Kindergarten (KG1 and 2)

At Downe House Muscat, our Early Years Programme provides the ideal start to a child's educational journey. Designed for girls and boys aged 3 to 5, our approach combines the best of British early years education with a deep understanding of the Omani context, creating a nurturing environment where young learners thrive.

Through our 'Structured Foundations, Inspired Learning' approach, children develop strong early skills in literacy, numeracy, communication, and personal development while exploring the world through curiosity, creativity, and play-based enquiry.

Rooted in the Downe House values of Aspiration, Compassion, Resilience, Collaboration, Creativity, Communication, and being Outward Looking, our programme encourages children to grow in confidence, independence, and character from their very first day at school.

Our purpose-built Early Years learning spaces, small class sizes, and experienced teachers ensure every child is known, supported, and challenged according to their individual needs. By the time they transition into Primary School, children have established the academic foundations, confidence, and love of learning that will support their success throughout their educational journey.

Lower and Middle Junior School (Grades 1 to 4)

For girls and boys aged 5 to 9, our Lower and Middle Junior School provides a strong foundation for academic success and a lifelong love of learning. Through a British curriculum adapted to the context of Oman, students develop confidence, curiosity, and the skills needed to thrive both in school and beyond.

Combining engaging, enquiry-based learning with strong academic foundations, pupils build essential skills in literacy, numeracy, communication, and critical thinking. Specialist teaching in Arabic, Islamic Studies, Music, and Physical Education enriches their experience, while a nurturing environment ensures every child is known, supported, and encouraged to fulfil their potential.

Upper Junior School (Grades 5 to 6)

As girls progress into Upper Junior School, they deepen their subject knowledge while building on the strong academic foundations established in their earlier years.

Following the Cambridge Primary Programme and enriched by the Downe House UK educational philosophy, our curriculum combines academic rigour with personalised learning. Small class sizes and specialist subject teachers ensure every girl is supported, challenged, and inspired to achieve her full potential. This important stage encourages growing independence, confidence, and leadership, while preparing students for a successful transition into Senior School.

Senior School (Grades 7 – 10)

Our Senior School provides a supportive environment where students develop the academic excellence, confidence, and independence needed for future success.

In Grades 7 and 8, girls follow the Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme alongside Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Social Studies, building strong subject knowledge while developing critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration skills.

In Grades 9 and 10, girls begin their IGCSE studies, choosing from a broad range of subjects aligned with their strengths, interests, and future aspirations. Supported by specialist teachers, tutors, and university and careers guidance, girls are encouraged to take increasing ownership of their learning while preparing for the academic rigour of Sixth Form and beyond.

Throughout Senior School, students are challenged to think independently, lead with confidence, and embrace opportunities that prepare them for success both in Oman and internationally.

Sixth Form (Grades 11 – 12)

Our Sixth Form provides an inspiring and academically ambitious environment where students prepare for their next steps with confidence and purpose. Students can choose between A Levels and the Omani General Education Diploma (GED), enabling them to follow a pathway that aligns with their strengths, aspirations, and future university goals. Both qualifications provide strong foundations for progression to leading universities in Oman and around the world.

With expert guidance from tutors, subject specialists, and our university and careers team, students are supported to make informed decisions about their future. Alongside academic excellence, Sixth Form encourages independence, leadership, and personal growth, empowering young women to take ownership of their learning and ambitions.

By graduation, every Downe House student is equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed at university, contribute to their communities, and make a meaningful impact in Oman and beyond.
